: 1980 1100 exhaust on 78 1000? pofarm 10-28-2009, 09:08 PM Hi. I'm new here. I have a 1978 GL1000 that is in need of a new exhaust system. I have located a complete set off of a 1980 GL1100. Will it fit? I just pulled the rusted out aftermarkets mufflers off my '76, but the headers are still good. I'm debating on what I want for a permanent solution, but there's a place in Austin that has literally dozens of pairs of nice used HD mufflers. I'm assuming I will have to fab a support bracket, but any ideas will be appreciated here. I also saw a MAC muffler set online for 311.00. Any other suggestions? ductman 05-01-2010, 01:16 AM jefhd2, i just did the mufflers on my 78 1000, i used muffiers off a HD softtail,and some flat stock about 14" long and bolted them to them were the the old pipes go, took it to a muffler shop and thay bent and welded some pipes, HD muffers free,45.00 to muffler shop, new system! | ||
