I have been reading about ceramic beads that are put inside your tires for dynamic balancing. Do anyone have any input on this?

Hi, I just jumped over here from the VFRD (www.vfrdiscussion.com) to find some info on a 05 GW rear wheel hub.

I came across this post and thought that since no one had replied i'd add a couple of links to some discussion about the Dyna beads for balancing wheels. Hope that this info can be useful!

I have used dynabeads and they work great! Just dump then bag in when you are mounting the tire, or put them in by removing the valve gut and sort of blowing them in out of the little bottle and tube they will provide you.
I had them in a 1500 se and ran it from PA to CA and back ( 10,600 miles ) this June. Had about 3K on them when I left. I changed the front upon returning with some tread left but cupping, the rear is still on the bike. That is pretty good for a wing. Tire pressures are 40 front and 41 rear.
I am putting Centramatics on my new (01) 1800 right now. Pricey, but I know they work as I am a retired truck driver and they have been in use for years.

Gary, welcome to the board from another Pa'r. I've heard a lot about the Centramatics but as of yet my 09 does not exibhit any wobble or cupping problems (3k miles). If I do have a problem they will be what I'll get. I don't think the dynabeads would be good in the 09 because of the TPMS built into the wheels. Ride safe and enjoy the trip.

I run the beads in my x as does my brother and the beads work great. We have also used them on the Darksider conversions and again am very pleased with the performance. You can also use the Airsoft "BB's". That is what I had first heard to use and have for about 30k so far. Good point on the TPMS and not using the beads. Poses an interesting question.

I have run the Dyna beadshttp://Innovativebalancing.com in a Kawasaki Concours with great results. I put on brand new Pilot GT"s with no weights and ran vibration free at the local track at 130 mph. I have a buddy who drag races and runs the salt and swears by them. He switched after throwing a balance weight at over 200 mph and nearly dieing. He has been clocked at 237 mph so far and says he has never had a smoother ride. The only negative I see is that you can't plug a flat on the side of the road with traditional rope plugs with out causing serious balance problems ( the beads will stick to the plug) Although you Should be able to with the Stop and Go brand plugs which are vastly superior

Motorcycle Consumer News did a test on dyna beads and found they DID not work. It was in the Oct 2006 issue and was just mentioned again in the Feb 2010 issue.

They made multiple test runs on a spin balancer as well as riding tests.

In the early 70s I was working in a Godyear store. There was a Caddy dealer right behind us. Caddy just came out with a car that offered spoked wheels. These cars had a ballance problem. You would spin the wheel up (on the car) and ballance it. Run it up again and it was way off. Come to find out the chafing strip in the wheels would come apart, roll up in balls and throw the (Tubless) tire out of bal. Therefore, It is my oppinion) a properly mpunted and ballanced tire/wheel is the way to go.

What can I say they have worked for me and several other people that I Know. Besides for around $10 for both wheels it's a cheap test.

I use them in my Trailers. Since it's a bit of a small wheel I found it tough to balance, and with the beads it's just put them in, and done.
Works very well

Dyna beads --- never again. Gave me a wicked wobble.

PM me for more info.

I run the centramatics now.
