I just finished replacing the stator, head gaskets and starter clutch on my 86 interstate. Due to the hydraulic valve lash adjusters I left the valve covers and exhaust pipes as the last thing to do so I could fill the defoaming chambers and keep them full until I was ready to start. I then noticed that I put three of my valve springs on upside down (tight coil to the retainer not to the head). I finished putting it together anyway and I fired her up. Bike runs just fine but will the upside down valve springs cause a problem down the road.

hi joe. you have progressive wound springs on the valves. if you don't redline or overrev the motor no problems should arrive as is now. BUT keep that in mind.

Thanks, I am just looking for peace of mind. I was sure it would not hurt. My wing redlines @ 6500rpm and it has never seen that since I owned it (12 years). I think the highest I have reved it is 5500 rpm.
Thanks
