Is that normal? Just bought the bike. 43K on it. Love all noises this bike make but not the "Gear whining" from final drive. Any suggestions or is this part of the GoldWing Experience ?

have you checked the oil level in the final drive unit?

Yes. I removed the filling cup/nut and stuck my finger in. Was just under the filler hole. Brownish color and no particular smell. Felt thick. The noise is so present I checked this at once. I am a former Auto Tech for refference. This noise remind of those gear that have strait cut gears in them. Like race cars. Therefor I am confused weather this is normal as pr design or if I have a problem. If no respond shows here like:
"Oh yeah, pfffh ,soo typical GL. You have to live with that", or so, I will take it to a GL shop for a checkup. The store I bought it from is the one I already contacted and they said just that. -I just don't trust that right now. . .

i have my 1200 ( just got it back ) and a 1500 and neither has noise from the rear that you are describing. i think the dealer is pulling you chain. you don't say what year your bike is is it under warrenty? did you get it from a shop that doesn't sell hondas? i would change the fluid just the same though

4 Wings here and none of them had a noise in the rear differential. I think a second opinion is in order.
