When I got the Green Wing I could smell antifreez after it warmed up. When the shop got into the system they found coolant leaks at the tubes at the intake manifold. I dropped by to chat with the mechanic he showed me the hoses. They were hard and brittle. Considering the fact that I want all problems repaired, I told them to replace all hoses and O rings. A bit costly but money well spent when you are riding down IH 70 in western Kansas.
We discoverd someone had removed the fuel shut off valve. I am thinking that I may need it. What do you all think?

My 83 GW gl1100 has an intake water lead even after replacing the head gasket. I am not aware of any intake hoses which carry coolant on my bike. Has anyone responded to your post,, who, did the know what they were talking about?

The 95 GL1500 has a vacume operated fuel shut off valve located in front of the gas cap. The one on mine was disconnected, the line run to the carbs and vaccum line plugg
ed up. The re-build kit sells for about $25.00.

On the same bike there are coolant lines all over the place. The leak was at the place where 2 metal tubes go into the thermostat housing. The housing was corroded, the pipes werer rusted and all rubber cooling lines were hard and brittle.

I have been impressed with the response to my "coolant leak in cylinders" problem... However, My Bike is a 1983 and does not have any intake cooling lines, or heating lines. It is most probable that I installed the new head Gasket wrong and will just have to do it again. The new head gasket only has 10 minutes on it.

As I used to road race 77-78,, and I built my own engines, this is not the first time I have made a mistake.
Thanks again for your efforts to resurect BlackVelvet.:)
