Intro

Hello from Texas, ya'll!:D
I'm back in the saddle after 25 years or so. Found a really nice '81 Interstate, right color, right price, and just couldn't pass it up. My last ride was a 750 Hondamatic that I really liked, but that's another story.

Glad to be able to find a 'Wing forum that appears to be fairly active.
Looking forward to exploring the site, and seeing what kind of info is out there.
Thanks!
Joel

Greetings

We've owned a couple 'wings for a few years, now. First, is a '77 with 42k miles, but it was too much of a project. So, I found a nice loaded '88 Yamaha Venture Royale. Rosie preferred the seat of the Goldwing which allowed her a better view, so we found a beaut with 32k miles.

We love the Goldwing even though it's only an Interstate. I don't care for the bling on the Aspencades, but cruise and reverse would really be nice.

I put new Metzlers on the 'wing last fall and they've really been nice riding. We've taken a few rides from Kremmling, CO over Trail Ridge Road to Estes Park which has been a sweet picturesque ride (dozens of pics of Elk.)

Ealier this summer, I rode from Kremmling, CO to my sister's in Utah for a funeral. That was the longest ride I've ever done on a bike and I loved it. There was still the smell of Lilac in the air from our long winter, which added to the open air exerience of riding a bike.

I've just finished re-sealing the gas tank on the '77. In the process of re-assembly and sourcing parts to restore the bike to naked Goldwing status.

That's it in a nutshell. Happy riding!

Hi all, Just started riding after a 30 year pause. Don`t know I did that. I bought a 2004vtx1300 in Feb and really enjoyed putting 4000 miles on it in 4 months. Finally got the MRS. interested enough to take a few rides with me and we jointly decided that wasn`t a good bike for her comfort. I sold it to my son in law and got 1986Interstate w/60000
miles on it. I have it in the shop now, getting new rubber, tune up, new fluids and making sure I am ready for the road as safe and dependable as possible, I am sure I will enjoy this forum as I know Honda people are great people.. Willard

Hi there, I am new to this forum. I don't know English or how to spell. However I am not new to Goldwings. I had a real nice GL-1500 1988 modle. I got the bike used with 30K on it. I put another 200K on top of that and would still have the bike if somebody would not have dumped 50 gallons of desil fule on the road. Sad ending for that one, however no injuries. MSF courses do pay off. Now I have a new GL-1800 Nav with preaiun auto. I got it one and a half mounths ago and have 4200 miles on it now. I am also a member of New York IV chapter of the Blueknights. We all do love to ride, and westeran New York provides some very seanice rides. That about the only good thing about New York, But thats for a different foraum. My wife and I are already planning a couple of long rides for next year. Maybe Kentucky, and possabily Texas. Deep Texas. Well nice to meet you all and ride saftely

Well,we just made the switch! My wife and I just bought our first wing,1991 GL1500SE. We both had the Honda VTX, mine was the 1800C and hers was the 1300C. For myself I felt that I had reached the top of the line in crusers and was ready for a change,I really enjoyed the hot rod feel and the loud pipes, very fast. BUT NOW I am already enjoying the luxury of our 1st. wing, the wife feels like a Queen sitting back in total comfort. Glad we made the switch, I'm sure we will upgrade in the model years but for now we thought we would kinda get the feel on our 1991 1500SE. Put on 300 miles on the first day! I always thought I was a little young to have a wing (43) but as I am finding out that the wing is Not just an old mans bike! Anyhow, we are looking foward to all the info and banter that I can share in on this site!!!

Hi All

Hi, not so new rider here. Been riding off and on for years. Latest bikes at a '94 1500SE and a '07 Suzuki V-Storm. Love them both however, prefer the Vee when I am riding alone. The SE is more for 2 up and more comfortable for the little lady. Have a good day and keep the rubber side down.

New GlWing!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,
Just got my new G/wing yesterday !! Nice -but sure quiet compared 2 my Kaw/ Meanstreak w/ Cobra pipes !!!
The windshield is lowered & still not much brezzze when wearing a leather jacket, Havent figured out a way to keep coool yet - unless i take off the jacket on hot days !?!?!

Found posible solution to the quietness, a cd w/ ALL Bikes & loud pipes playing all the time ?!

Seem like a VERY Smooth & easy handling Bike !!!
Wish Honda had better way of checking the oil though !!!!

What is the problem i heard about front fork bearings going at 3-4000 miles & Honda not covering it ??

Look 4/ward 2 some nice trips w/ this Road warrior !!!!!!!!!!!!!

new old wing rider

:)Hi, they call me jerry.I'm 65. Have had a bike of one kind or another most of my driving life. I just bought my first wing. I always avoided one because I thought the seat height was to tall for a short guy. I went to a dealer and tried one on for size. "It fit" I bought an '80 with 35k on the clock. Really different ride. Got. some learning to do. Second day I had it, I laid it down at a stop sign where the side street was uneven. thanks to the internet, I knew how to set her back up. No wittnesses. good thing. Love the ride. I know I'll have questions, Glad I found this forum, but I won't stick around. Thanks.

Hello all. I am a former GWRRA member, Chapter Director, and La Membership Enhancement Director at the State Level. I live in La and ride an 1984 GL1200A Named "Barn Rescued". I found it in a farmers Barn where it had sat for 6 years. It was so dirty it was a few days before I found it was 2 tone Windberry. After taking it all apart and cleaning and painting it, I have put another 65,000 miles on her. I painted it Pure Mixing White and striped it with Blue and red reflective tape. I painted the inside of all the bags Battle Ship Gray. There are 10 small bullet Blue lights and 12 Amber lights and a few extra Red light on it. All the factory reflector on the bags and truck have been changed to lights. It has a receiver trailer hitch and many little things I have done to her never seen on a wing before. The bike is well lit at night because I used to ride it to work on the night shift.

New Goldwing in Florida

I pick up my new bike in St. Augustine Florida this Saturday. I am 52 years young and plan to keep my CBR 1000 rr but after test driving a goldwing I couldn't resist the new addition. The wife is happy that we can plan some trips on it together because she refused to even consider getting on the CBR and I don't blame her. What a fantastic machine!
The CBR will be restricted to short jaunts.

Just joinin' in.

I just got my '82 Interstate. What a different ride this beast is. I've ridden bikes all my life and a bike was my only transportation for about 10 years. I've ridden a big variety of bikes, lot of sport bikes and lately some cruisers, but this is a whole different beast. Been getting used to it riding to work and plan to take a few road trips soon.

I was riding a friend's cruiser and the girlfriend wasn't very comfortable on the back. This will change things. Anybody else going to be at the Oyster Run in Anacortes WA?
Don't bother responding, I won't be around to see it.

New GL1800 in Colorado!!!

I just inked the deal on a 2008 Wing - I'll take delivery a week from Tuesday. After riding my 04 VTX1300 to Banff this summer and chatting with a lot of wing owners along the way, I decided it was time to move up. The dealer let me take the new bike for a short ride - WOW!!! - this bike puts a smile on one's face:D:D:D

I look forward to a lot of great miles with this bike.
