New 1983 GL1100i owner

Hi folks,

Well, I was looking for a project bike for the winter and found this 83 GL1100i. The odometer says 22K, it does run great, so that is half the battle. Got it for 1,750. Expect to put no more than a grand into it (but, you know how that goes). I also own a 2011 Harley Road Glide in showroom condition and customized to reflect me. So, I know how budget creep can turn to 'open checkbook' and never going back to look at past spending.

I was debating to restore to its original condition or go with the image as I want to see it. I'm thinking I want to build it out to my vision.

Looking forward to poking around and finding those 'AH HA' moments on the message board. Thanks in advance for all your expertise sharing!

Beautiful original Classic. I would tend to make it my own, but would do so as to be able to return to original. Enjoy !

Welcome to GWOF. What a great bike! Wish I owned it - but one step down, please keep us posted on your fixes. I'm very interested. And you already have the picture thing going so keep that up.

I've done the past 2 winters on my bike - and don't have a lot planned for this winter. I've put 30k miles on mine in the past 3 summers and hope to put anohter 30k on it before I move to the next bike. Hope you enjoy your project.
